SOME THINGS JUST GET BETTER WITH TIME

Everyone has people in their lives that no matter how long you go without seeing eachother or emailing, it's like nothing has changed. The bonds are strong because your spirits connect. So it is with my friends Rusty and Shelley. They came for a quick visit conference weekend from Arizona. We were lucky enough to have them stay with us on Saturday and to spend the day with them. Rusty and I went to high school together and we were so close, along with a few others. He married Shelley and just went from the best to the bestest. It's like she has always belonged with "us". It is always refreshing to have those people around you who really know you, who really get you, and who really get life. Like I said, it truely is a spiritual connection. It was the first time that I got to meet Anabelle. She is so darling and when she makes her mad face she looks just like a Blair! Max really liked her too! I'm pretty sure there was some binki swapping going on. Rusty, Shelley, and I caught up on what is going on with family and life in Round Valley. Mostly we talked about life now; which is refreshing. Our friendship isn't based on high school--that's just where it started. I love them and I miss not having them close by--I long for those days of Boggle wars and watching hours of baseball on the Blairs couch--just chillin'. I am truely blessed to have had such wonderful pasttimes and such lasting friendships. I can't wait for our reunion to see the rest of "us".

LIFE CHANGES...
MUCH HAS CHANGED IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS. MAX HAS BECOME REALLY MOBILE. HE'S BEEN SCOOTING AROUND FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS, BUT ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, HE LEARNED HOW TO GET UP THE STAIRS, HOW TO PULL HIMSELF UP ON EVERYTHING, AND HOW TO SCREAM HIS LUNGS OUT. HOWEVER, HE HAS NOT LEARNED HOW TO GET DOWN THE STAIRS SAFELY, OR OFF THE COUCH, BED...THE CHILD HAS NO FEAR. AND ONE MORE THING...HE IS TERRIFIED OF THE VACCUUM, THE LAWN MOWER, THE BLOW DRYER...HE WATCHES THEM LIKE THEY ARE ABOUT TO ATTACK.

Trip to Nana's

This weekend we headed up to Idaho to go see my mom. Max had not been to Nana's since June so we were long overdue for a visit. We had such a great time celebrating Nana's birthday. Ryan lucked out as my brother had the upgraded Dish package and was able to get the BYU game. It was really fun for us all to hang out at their home. We all learned something about Ryan--he's a closet cat lover. Tilley and Ryan got along fabulously. Lucky for me he is allergic to them.

max is 9 months old, 28.5 inches tall, and 21 lbs.13 oz. light (ha)

We took Max for his 9 mo. well child check up today. He is healthy as a horse and as big as one too. He is in the 69% for his weight and the 54% for his height. He learned how to pull himself up on everything in the last week, along with climbing stairs. He is getting to be quite the handful as he loves to explore everything. He has just cut his 4th tooth on the top. He loves to watch his "shows" in the morning and he especially loves it when Daddy comes home from work. He gets so excited to see him and wants his Dad to pick him up. He loves books and chewing on everything. He took his first header off the bed the other day(hence the scratches on his nose and upper lip). I felt like such a horrible mother, but he seemed to bounce back after just a few minutes. He's just a mover...a fast one. We sure do count our blessings everyday for him.

MAX MAKES HIS GAME DAY DEBUT

Max made his first BYU game last Saturday. We knew it was supposed to rain so we came prepared. We didn't get more than a drizzle until the 4th quarter. We pulled out the ponchos and one trash bag for the little guy and we were ready to go. Luckily, the Cougs scored early in the 4th to seal the deal and Dad suggested we head home since the rain was really starting to come down. Max was so cute in his makeshift poncho...but he didn't like being all bagged up. It was fun! DADDY AND MAX-KEEPING DRY

I've had access to the laptop and wireless since Ryan went fishing today, so when Max wasn't demaning my every attention, I got a chance to play around with my blog. In honor of the Autumn season knocking on our doorstep, I changed it up a bit. Now I want to get out all my fall decor, bake pumpkin cookies, and knit a sweater...okay, so knitting is a stretch...maybe I'll just buy a new one. Anyhoo--the crisp is in the air and I'm a fall fanatic.

Almost every Sunday we spend dinner with Mark & Jeff. It's not something we planned, nor is it anything formal. But we usually spend our Sunday evenings either at Mark's house or ours. It's convienent since we only live 5 houses from eachother. It's just something that kind of came to be all on it's own. I guess it makes since to eat together since we all have to eat anyway. We usually come up with a collaborative menu sometime during Sunday School. It's a chance for us all to relax and enjoy eachother's company. It's also a great time for the Uncles to spend some quality time with Max each week. It's nice and there's never any pressure to perform.

I'm getting excited for Fall. It's my favorite season. I can't wait for the first crisp football game, to pull out the sweaters, and especially for Harvest Fest. Last year we didn't celebrate...too much going on. But I'm already starting my think tank for this year's festivities. It has to be beautiful, yet simple, fun and sassy, and something that leaves guests yearning for another one. Good thing I have my celebrity sidekick--Mickey. Oh, the fun we'll have!

Swiss Days 2007

Nestled in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains of Utah is a little town settled by the Swiss called Midway Utah. I love Midway for several reasons but the two favorite are 1) Johnsons Mill Bed & Breakfast (where Ryan and I honeymooned) 2) the Annual Swiss Days festivities.

Yesterday Jolea and I took our annual early morning drive to Midway. This year my dear friend Emily came with us. It was her first Swiss Days. We love the anticipation of what we will find at the booths. Mostly I always leave with the thought "Why didn't I think to do that; I could make a ton of money". I tell you, some of the things people make and then sell at outrageous prices is just genious. Of course we can't leave until we've heard a little yodeling while standing in line for Swiss Tacos. It was a great morning and I came home with a pocket full of darling magnets and a darling polar fleece jacket for my little Max--who by the way fared the crowds very well. Until next year...
